Daytona Woman Charged With Stealing Pills From Employer

Pierson, FL - A Daytona Beach woman who just started a new job as a pharmacy technician faces even more charges for stealing over a dozen bottles of prescription drugs from her employer.

28-year-old Katie Jean Williams' latest arrest comes less than a month after she was booked at Volusia County Jail for grand theft and trafficking in oxycodone.

VCSO spokesman Andrew Gant tells us that arrest and the one today are related. It all started on May 25th when her employer - Pierson Community Pharmacy - called VCSO.

"The owner discovered several bottles missing during inventory," Gant noted. "At the time, the pharmacy was missing at least 200 15-milligram Oxycodone pills, 200 30mg Oxycodone pills and 100 20mg Amphetamine pills."

Security footage (posted below) showed Willams took the pills from a safe and stuffed them down her shirt.

As detectives looked further into the case in the days following her initial arrest, they found that Williams took more than first thought, per Gant.

"A follow-up audit would reveal several more missing bottles and additional video evidence of Williams stealing two bottles of Phentermine, one bottle of Diazepam, two bottles of Oxycodone and two bottles of Alprazolam," Gant noted.

Williams had only been working at the pharmacy for around a month, according to VCSO.

Besides the charges above, she's also facing four counts of drug possession.

Williams is being held on $70,000 bond at VCJ.
