Daytona Beach, FL - For the first time ever, the Daytona Beach Police Department makes its first arrest with a drone.

Police responded to a home on North Peninsula Drive just north of the Overlook Apartments at Daytona with reports of a possible burglary after 2 this morning.

When officers arrived, they spotted the suspect, 23-year-old Anthony Rivers Jr., pacing around the pool area of a residence. When Rivers noticed police, he bolted, scaling a 15-foot fence.

According to police, Rivers then climbed onto the roof of another home and began to jump from one house to another in an effort to escape.

That's when officers dispatched DBPD's Aviation Unit to deploy one of its drones.

As soon as the drone entered the area, it immediately spotted Rivers. He then jumped on top of a travel trailer where he was met by Daytona Beach officers and arrested

Rivers is charged with burglary, attempted burglary and resisting without arrest.
