Daytona Condo Prices Remain Strong Through December

Daytona Beach, FL - Even though local condominium sales dropped slightly, sales prices finished strong in 2018.

116 condo units sold in the Daytona Beach area in December, according to the Multiple Listing Service. That's just short of the 123 condos that sold in December of 2017.

The median sales price rose by just under 3% in December to $228,450, compared to the $222,000 posted for the December prior.

"As predicted, the condo market remained strong in December, and really, through the entirety of 2018," said Ron Wysocarski, owner of Wyse Home Team Realty in Port Orange. "It's a great way to close out the year."

Median sales prices at the end of the year were up by 10% over the year prior, which is a figure many real estate experts predicted for the state of Florida as the year began.

Sales were also 3.5% higher than the number of units sold in 2017 according to the MLS report.

Inventory levels remained steady in December as well, with 1,026 units made active on the MLS at some point during the month. That's down 20 from the 1,046 listed on the MLS in November, but it's an increase from the 923 that were active on the MLS in December of 2017.

Throughout 2018, some 3,329 units were made active, about 5% higher than those listed in 2017.
