Daytona Beach, FL - On Wednesday, the Daytona Beach City Commission will vote on a measure to allow tattoo parlors in additional zoning districts throughout the city. The City Planning Board discussed at a December meeting whether or not it would be appropriate to allow tattoo establishments in more areas of the city. As a result of that discussion, City staff created a proposal to permit tattoo establishments in the following additional zoning districts:
  • Business Retail- 1
  • Business Retail- 2
  • Redevelopment Beachside- Atlantic Ave. Retail
  • Redevelopment Downtown- Local Business Services
  • Redevelopment Midtown- Activity Center Mixed Use

If the City Commission approves the measure, tattoo parlors will be permitted in these additional zones. If the motion for the new tattoo parlor zoning districts is passed on its first reading Wednesday, there will be a public hearing on the matter March 21. The City Commission will also vote on an ordinance to amend the definition of a "tattoo establishment" to include cosmetic permanent eye makeup establishments. If that motion is passed on first reading, it will also be put up for a public hearing on March 21. Photo courtesy of Eivaisla and Shutterstock.com. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2018.
