Daytona Beach Burglary Suspect Killed In I-4 Wreck, Passengers Hurt

Volusia County, FL-FHP is investigating a fatal accident that killed a Daytona Beach burglary suspect and hurt two passengers early Sunday. Troopers say the driver and passengers were suspected in burglaries near Daytona International Speedway. The vehicle was fleeing from Daytona Beach police and was being followed by the Air One VCSO helicopter when the vehicle wrecked on I-4 WB. The driver of the 2015 Kia Forte lost control under the overpass with Saxon Boulevard and hit a steel sign around the 111-mile marker. The accident happened around 3:20 AM. The male driver was killed and his name has not yet been released. Two passengers in the vehicle are identified as  18-year-old Alexandra Phillipe and a 14-year-old male, both of Orlando. Both were seriously injured and are being treated at Central Florida Hospital. Neither the driver or the passengers were wearing seat belts according to the FHP.
