happy-dogs DeLand, FL - The City of DeLand will unveil its first dog park this week as part of an ongoing revitalization of Earl Brown Park, and a special guest is expected to be in attendance. City Commissioners and staff will open the new dog park at 5:30 PM on Wednesday at Earl Brown Park. The 1 acre park has benches, waste bag stations, water stations, and is divided into 2 sections: 1 for big dogs and the other for small dogs. Officials say more amenities may be added in the future. “I think this is going to be a great addition to Earl Brown Park and I hope the community comes out and enjoys it,” said Mayor Bob Apgar. The city will also be installing 10 exercise stations throughout Earl Brown Park which could be ready by next week. These additions are part of a larger ongoing effort to revitalize Earl Brown Park. Community Information Specialist Chris Graham was excited to announce a special guest that will be at the grand opening on Wednesday: Maverick, a golden retriever who's battling lymphoma.
