Palm Coast, FL - Concerned citizens help Flagler County deputies arrest a burglar in Palm Coast's C-Section.

Just before five o'clock yesterday evening (June 6th), a Cortes Court resident alerted deputies, saying she was sitting in her living room when she noticed a man trying to open her back door.

The man was described as a white male with a thin build, dark hair with a red shirt and black pants. The man fled when confronted by the homeowner.

While deputies were attempting to locate the man, a witness flagged them down and told them that the suspect was seen walking between houses with a large duffle bag.

At the same time, Flagler County Fire Flight, the emergency helicopter, told deputies that they had a visual on a white male in the same area as stated by witnesses.

Fire Flight watched as the suspect ditched the bag in a wood line before walking westbound on Collingwood Lane.

Deputies later found the suspect at the intersection of Collingwood Lane and Palm Harbor Parkway, where he was detained.

Two black bags were located in the wood line in the same area that suspect, now identified as 23-year-old Michael Shawn McRoberts Jr., was observed coming from.

The bags contained multiple cell phones and tablets with around 18 bottles of prescription medication.

The owners of the stolen items were identified and the items were returned.

McRoberts refused to speak with deputies. He was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of dealing in stolen property, tampering with evidence, prowling and resisting an officer without violence.

He's still in custody at Flagler County Jail on a $24,000 bond.

Jail records also show that McRoberts has 13 other bookings at Flagler County Jail, dating back all the way to 2010 when he was 14-years-old.
