DBPD: Car Thief Steals Vehicle From Salesman

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach Police investigators are working to find the man who stole a vehicle right out from under the salesman who was showing the 2011 silver Chevy Tahoe to him. DBPD officers responded at about 11:20 a.m. on Monday to Gary Yeoman's Pre-owned Vehicles on Nova Road. The salesman stated he was approached by a man who asked to see the vehicle, asked several questions and then said he wanted to hear how the engine sounded.  The salesman got the keys.  The suspect was in the driver's seat, revving the engine with the driver's side door slightly open when he slammed the door and sped out of the lot. The salesman got into another vehicle to give chase but was unable to find the Tahoe or the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male, in his early thirties, between 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds.  The listed description said the suspect has braided hair and was last seen wearing black jeans, a black and blue t-shirt and neon green earrings in both ears. Two images of the suspect are posted above and below this article. Anyone with information is asked to contact Daytona Beach Police Detective Christian Botella at 386-671-5226 or email at botellachristian@dbpd.us.
