Bunnell, FL - Police records confirm that the woman charged with manslaughter in connection with a Bunnell death investigation accidentally shot her boyfriend but purposefully pulled the trigger.
On June 1 at around 7:37 p.m., Bunnell police were dispatched to 705 N Bacher Street in reference to a shooting after a woman reported that she had shot her boyfriend. The woman, 43-year-old Tammy Almond, came out with her hands up as police arrived. For earlier reporting on this story, click here.
Responding officers asked Almond if she and her boyfriend were fighting when the shooting happened. Almond told police: "I don't know. I just picked up the gun and didn't think it was loaded and it just shot."
Further investigation revealed that Almond and her boyfriend had been dating on and off for three years and that they were at the home to house-sit for someone. Almond told police she found a rifle behind the front door and that she began to manipulate it. Almond said that as she raised the rifle and pulled the hammer back, her boyfriend walked through the kitchen and yelled "bang."
After her boyfriend yelled out, she pulled the trigger and shot him. Upon being questioned, Almond confirmed that she had intentionally pulled the trigger. Almond indicated that she was familiar with firearms and that she "knew better."
Almond remains at the Flagler County Jail on charges of manslaughter with a firearm. She is being held on a $250,000 bond.
