Bunnell, FL - A man recently jailed for allegedly counterfeiting money from inside a Bunnell home is facing more charges after investigators found that he used his counterfeit bills to buy an ATV on Craigslist.
While serving a warrant for 35-year-old Christopher Heath’s arrest, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies found evidence of a counterfeit bill operation. For earlier reporting on this story, click here.
Upon further investigation, FCSO investigators uncovered that Heath had used some of his counterfeit bills to buy an $800 ATV from a seller on Craigslist. On May 10, Heath arrived at the victim’s home in a U-Haul, paid the seller with counterfeit cash, loaded the ATV inside the U-Haul, and left. When the victim tried to deposit the cash into an ATM, it was denied. The victim then took the cash to a local retailer where it was confirmed to be fake.
Heath will continue to be held at the Flagler County Detention Center for Grand Theft ($5,000 bond) and a 2nd count of uttering forged bills ($2000 bond) in addition to his original charge from the warrant out of Volusia County ($2500 bond).
“This guy’s rap sheet just continues to grow, even while he is behind bars,” said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. “I want to congratulate our investigators for connecting Heath to this case. We have a great team and if there are any other dots to connect they will be made.”
