Bunnell Kids Find Human Placenta In Dumpster; FCSO Searches For Mother & Child

Posted

Bunnell, FL - A group of children found a placenta wrapped in a medical pad in a dumpster on Saturday in Bunnell, and now the Flagler County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help as they search for the mother and baby.

FCSO deputies were called to Hidden Trails Park at 6108 Mahogany Blvd. on March 24 after a group of children found what they believed was a placenta in a dumpster. Detectives and personnel from the Medical Examiner's Office and the Sheriff's Crime Scene Unit searched the dumpster, but couldn't find any other evidence. On Monday, March 26, the Medical Examiner confirmed that what was found was, in fact, a human placenta.

Now FCSO is asking for the public's help as they try to find the woman who gave birth and disposed of the placenta so that they can make sure the mother and child are safe and well. Officials say there are no criminal charges pending. “We are asking the public to assist us in solving this mystery and ensuring the mother and infant are okay,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Please call us with any information you may have.”

Officials believe the baby was born sometime between March 19th and March 23rd. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911 and mention Case Number 2018-00028099. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIP (8477). You could eligible for a reward up to $5,000.
