Daytona Beach, FL - The birthplace of NASCAR could head to the highest bidder this week.

The Streamline Hotel on State Road A1A will make its way to the auction block this morning, less than two years after it reopened following a $6.5 million makeover.

Ten-X Commercial - the firm in charge of the two-day auction process - will start bidding at $2.3 million, according to the online listing.

Participants are required to place a $25,000 deposit before they can bid. The bidding is scheduled to end on Wednesday.

Eddie Hennessy - the current owner of the Streamline - says the hotel will not sell unless he can get at least $7.5 million for it.

The Streamline's rooftop bar was the site of a series of meetings in 1947 which eventually led to the formation of NASCAR.
