Bethune-Cookman University Reveals Plans For Its First Tuition Increase In 8 Years

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - Bethune-Cookman University officials have confirmed that the school will raise its tuition for the coming 2018-2019 school year.

The university’s Board of Trustees has approved a 3% tuition increase per credit hour for undergraduates, however, military and B-CU Global direct online students will be excluded from the increase. In addition, students living on campus will be charged $250 more per semester for meal plans.

B-CU says the cost to operate the school has increased 15.48% per full-time equivalent student since 2013. The university calls the tuition increase “necessary” and “modest” compared to other universities that B-CU says have increased tuition between 2.2.% and 10.2% annually.

The university reminds students that there are scholarships, grants, federal aid, and work-study programs available to help pay for tuition. B-CU assures that they are seeking financial support from private and government entities to keep the cost of education down.

B-CU says the tuition increase will result in:

  • More streamlined and efficient financial aid packaging

  • Dedicated registration processes for undergraduate and graduate students separately

  • Enhanced campus safety

  • Responsive communications systems including call center support services

  • Remodeled and updated facilities

  • Improved access to digital services
