Daytona Beach, FL - Soon, the home of the Wildcats will be welcoming their new president on campus.

That's according to Bethune-Cookman University, who recently announced that they have selected the institution's seventh president.

Their choice is Dr. E. LaBrent Chrite, who will take office at the beginning of July this year.

Chrite currently serves as the dean at the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business.

Before that, he served as the dean at Montclair State University in New Jersey and held leadership positions at the University of Arizona-Tucson and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

In June, he'll be stepping down from his position at the University of Denver.

"I am tremendously honored to assume the presidency at Bethune-Cookman University," Chrite said. "We face some serious challenges, but we have so much that's outstanding in our community and traditions-and I have every confidence that together we will make exciting things happen."

Hubert Grimes has been serving as the interim president at BCU since July of 2017. He assumed the position after Dr. Edison O. Jackson stepped down.
