Beach Safety Warns Of Possible Dangerous Surf For Memorial Day

Volusia County, FL-County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue is eyeing a developing area of disturbed weather in the Bahamas that could cause dangerous rip current conditions for the remainder of the week and through the holiday weekend ahead here. Beach Safety Senior Captain Tammy Marris says she expects the red flag to fly at the beach to warn beachgoers of the possibility of strong rip current conditions.

That developing low could end up bringing rain to Georgia and/or South Carolina, but forecasters say it's too early to tell what, if anything, will happen with that area of weather.

Marris advises beach visitors to check with a lifeguard or any Beach Safety officer to get the latest on conditions.

The Weather Underground discussion of the area of low pressure is here.
