B-CU's Concert Chorale & Symphonic Band To Debut New Musical

Daytona Beach, FL -  The Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) Concert Chorale and Symphonic Band will debut, "Treemonisha", for their annual spring concert.

The free concert will be open to the public on Sunday, April 9th at 4 PM in the Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center.

The program will feature the African American Opera, "Treemonisha", by African American composer Scott Joplin.

The featured musical is about a young educated woman who completes college and goes back to her home in Arkansas, only to be kidnapped by the town's witch doctor and then has to use her smarts to escape.

President and First Lady Florence Jackson encourage B-CU faculty, staff, supporters and the local community to attend the University's premier cultural event.

The event will highlight the musical skills and talents of the students and directors at B-CU.
