Man Arrested For Armed Robbery Of Dollar General Near DeLand, Implicates Girlfriend In Confession

dollar general credit shutterstock james l. martin Update: A Daytona Beach man and his girlfriend have been arrested after he confessed and implicated her in Tuesdays armed robbery at a Dollar General near DeLand. 30-year-old Charlie Bishop, a convicted felon, and his girlfriend 25-year-old Charvikka Wiley were arrested on Friday and charged for Tuesdays armed robbery. Investigators found 6 fingerprints on the front counter of that Dollar General on Kepler Road that have been linked to Bishop. On Thursday, the store clerk who was robbed at gunpoint by Bishop picked him out in a photo line-up. Bishop confessed to the robbery during an interrogation and implicated Wiley who was waiting in the get-away car. When investigators asked Bishop if she was in on it, he told them, "She was down with it. She loves me." Bishop has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and petty theft. He was also charged with violation of probation and is being held without bond at the Volusia County Jail. Wiley has been charged with being a principal to armed robbery. Her bond has been set at $30,000. Investigators have recovered the gun that Bishop used during the robbery and the clothes he was wearing. charlie bishop mug

DeLand, FL-Deputies are looking for the armed robber who held up a Dollar General near DeLand around 1:15 PM Tuesday. The man pointed a gun at the female clerk at the store on East ISB Boulevard just east of Deland. Deputies say no shots were fired. The robber got away with an undetermined amount of money. Customers who were in the store at the time hid in the back room. Deputies with K-9's and the VCSO helicopter along with DeLand police searched for the suspect last seen running along Kepler Road. Investigators say a getaway car may have been waiting and is thought to be a blue, 4-door Nissan Altima.  The suspect was described as an approximately 6’ tall black man with short hair who was wearing black cargo shorts, a black v-neck shirt and dark-colored tennis shoes. Witnesses said the suspect had tattoos on his face. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers toll-free at (888) 277-TIPS.
