Deltona, FL- Investigators working a Deltona convenience store robbery spotted one of the robbery suspects this morning with a distinctive backpack that was described by witnesses to the crime. The backpack sported a popular “Angry Birds” character. The robbery happened at around 4 AM at the store at 2798 Elkcam Blvd.

A review of surveillance video gave deputies a detailed description of the suspects, including one with the backpack, spotted during the Kangaroo Express robbery. After searching with K-9 units and the Sheriff’s Office Air One helicopter, a deputy spotted 28-year-old Luis Montanez carrying the backpack with a “Bomb Bird” on it about a half-mile away. He also had a handgun in the bag.

Montanez confessed to the robbery and investigators also identified a second suspect, 20-year-old Devyn Omar Rivera, who is also in custody.
