AAA: Memorial Day Gas Prices Sink To Two-Year Low

Daytona Beach, FL - Florida's gas prices continued to decline to the lowest they have been in two months.

That also led customers to find the lowest Memorial Day gas prices in two years.

The latest report from AAA shows that Florida's average gas price is now slightly below $2.60 per gallon (regular unleaded). When, compared to last year, the state was seeing an average 31 cents higher than that on Memorial Day in 2018.

Average prices around the state also declined for the 24th consecutive day on Monday (May 27th), for a total decrease of 19 cents.

"Gas prices took an early summer slide, due to growing domestic fuel supplies and the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA "Both factors forced oil prices to their lowest level in two months. As we begin the summer driving season, Florida drivers are saving a little more than $4.50 compared to last year, when filling an average size tank of gas."

Around the local area, Volusia drivers are seeing averages hanging around $2.58 a gallon (regular unleaded), which is two cents lower than the state average and six cents lower than last week's average.

Flagler drivers are seeing averages just a penny higher than the current state average at $2.61 per gallon. This is also the second time in two weeks that Flagler has had a higher average than Volusia.

And again, West Palm Beach-Boca Raton is seeing the highest average price in the state at $2.71. Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater is seeing the lowest average at $2.52 a gallon.

The current national average is $2.82 per gallon, 22 cents higher than Florida's.
