AAA: Florida Gas Prices Lowest In 7 Months

Daytona Beach, FL - A new report shows that Floridians are paying the lowest gas prices seen since April.

That report from AAA shows that the current state average of $2.64 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is 28 cents less than this year's high, despite being 25 cents higher than last year's high.

But, prices continued to fall since last week, dropping another six cents.

"Floridians are saving 25 cents per gallon, compared to when gas prices peaked during Memorial Day weekend," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA. "Gasoline is becoming less expensive to produce-and-sell thanks to lower crude prices and cheaper-to-produce winter blend fuel. Retail prices have not quite caught up with declines on the wholesale side, so motorists should see another round of discounts this week."

Volusia County drivers are seeing an average of $2.61 per gallon of regular unleaded, which is eight cents less than last week's average and three cents cheaper than the state average.

Flagler County drivers aren't getting as much of a break with an average of $2.69 per gallon of regular unleaded, eight cents more than Volusia and five cents more than the state average.

The state average declined for the 26th consecutive day on Sunday, for a total discount of 18 cents.
