AAA: Florida Gas Prices Drop With Declining Demand

Daytona Beach, FL - Gas prices drop lower at the pumps following a decline in demand, and AAA says it could go even lower this fall.

Their latest report shows Florida's average price of $2.72 per gallon of regular unleaded gas is two cents lower than last week, and 13 cents lower than the current national average of $2.85.

According to AAA, motorists can thank a decline in demand for the drop in prices.

"Even though oil prices rose last week, prices at the pump slipped lower because of declines in gasoline demand," said Mark Jenkins, AAA spokesman. "Combining this autumn trend with the recent switch to a cheaper-to-produce winter-blend gasoline, and prices at the pump could move even lower this fall."

Volusia County motorists are seeing an average of $2.71 per gallon of regular unleaded, three cents lower than last week. And Flagler motorists are seeing an average of $2.75 per gallon of regular unleaded, three cents more than the state average.

AAA also reports that the state average is on a streak of declines, falling 23 consecutive days for a total of 9 cents.
