AAA: Florida Gas Prices Drop Five Cents

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - Local drivers are getting some relief at the gas pump.

AAA is reporting that average prices for regular unleaded gas in the state of Florida have dropped a total of five cents in the past week and 17 cents since Memorial Day.

The current average in the state is $2.74 while the national average is $2.88, 14 cents higher than Florida.

"Pump prices should sink even lower this week after wholesale gasoline prices took a dive," said Mark Jenkins, AAA spokesman. "There is now firm downward pressure on the oil market as it appears increasingly likely that OPEC will agree to ease production costs."

Volusia County residents are paying three cents less than last week's prices of $2.78 with the current prices at $2.75. However, Flagler County residents will be paying $2.77 at the pump for regular unleaded, close to last week's average and three cents more than the current state average.

The highest price in the state right now is Miami at $2.89 per gallon, and the lowest being Punta Gorda at $2.65.
