Volusia County, FL - Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood has announced the promotion of 6 deputies and a civilian supervisor, the 1st group of promotions since he took office in January.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO), the promotions were recognized during a ceremony at the Stephen Saboda Training Center with friends, family and co-workers present, about 150 people in attendance. Combined, the 7 represent more than 85 years of service to the Sheriff's Office.
The VCSO reports that Sheriff Chitwood said the Sheriff's Office is full of talented, hard-working employees, well-prepared to fill the need for supervisory positions following recent retirements.
"We're promoting some great people to take their place as leaders," said Sheriff Chitwood. "I expect big things from this class that we're promoting today."
The following deputies were promoted on Wednesday:
Newly-promoted Lieutenants
Newly-promoted Sergeants
Civilian promotion
Claudine Boring, to assistant director of communications
