2 Students Arrested At Matanzas HS After Fight With School Resource Deputy

Flagler County, FL - A fight broke out at Matanzas High School On Tuesday, resulting in the arrest of 2 students.

18-year-old Damien Thompson was suspended and refused to leave the school. In response the school resource deputy ordered him to leave saying that if he didn't, he'd be trespassing. When the deputy tried to remove Thompson from the campus, the student fought with him in the school courtyard.

The deputy only suffered minor scrapes and scratches and Thompson was arrested and charged with trespassing on school property, resisting an officer with violence, battery of a law enforcement officer and battery of a school official. A 15-year-old student is being charged with resisting with violence for trying to interfere with the deputy's arrest.

All students were brought back to their classrooms within 5 minutes of the incident.

FCSO was called to the scene around 12:15 PM.
