1 Man Is Dead From Injuries Sustained During Crash In New Smyrna Beach

New Smyrna Beach, FL - One man is dead from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on Friday night.

New Smyrna Beach Police Department (NSBPD) officers responded to the 3100 block of S.R. 44 in reference to a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a sedan at 10:37 PM, Friday, March 24.

According to the NSBPD, the driver of a 1982 black Yamaha motorcycle, Stanley Ernest Stern, Jr., 34, New Smyrna, was pronounced dead at the scene by New Smyrna Beach Fire/Rescue personnel.

The driver of a 2015 gray Ford Taurus, Claire Elizabeth Pavelski, 39, Titusville, did not sustain any injuries.

Stern was traveling eastbound on S.R. 44 and Pavelski made a left turn from the westbound lane of S.R. 44 to access the I-95 southbound on-ramp when she entered his path.

Criminal charges against Pavelski are pending the outcome of the investigation.
