UPDATE (09-03-19): Dorian is back on the move, this time at 1 mph.
Daytona Beach, FL - Hurricane Dorian has remained relatively still throughout the night, pounding the Bahamas with constant bouts of heavy rain and high winds.
Yesterday, the storm began to attack the islands as a Category 5 storm. Once it reached the western part of the island, it pretty much stopped moving altogether.
Overnight, Dorian began to weaken from a Category 5 down to a Category 3, where it sits now, just north of Grand Bahama Island.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Dorian's winds are hitting around 120 mph with higher gusts. A slow north-northwestward motion is expected to begin this morning.
A turn to the north is forecast by Wednesday evening, followed by a turn to the north-northeast Thursday morning. On that track, Dorian will continue to hit the Bahamas much of today before moving close to the Florida east coast tonight through tomorrow night.
The hurricane will then very near the Georgia and South Carolina coasts Wednesday night and Thursday, and near or over the North Carolina coast late Thursday.
Despite the little to no movement seen last night and the weakening, all precautions taken before are still in effect. That includes all evacuations and curfews.
