Holly Hill, FL - A woman fleeing from deputies tried hiding in a bedroom closet. But, it didn't take long for a K9 to find her.

Back on Wednesday night (January 8th), a Volusia County deputy noticed a white Dodge Dakota truck with no taillights or license plate lights on Walker Street. The deputy initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Walker and Center Avenue, with his lights and siren. But, the truck soon turned southbound on Center and took off.

From there, the deputy followed the vehicle southbound until the eventually turned eastbound on LPGA. That's when the deputy deactivated his lights and siren and followed the vehicle from a distance.

After leaving the chase, the deputy watched as the truck turned northbound onto State Avenue and through an apartment building parking lot until getting onto US-1. That's when the deputy lost sight of the vehicle.

An officer with Holly Hill police observed the vehicle and initiated another chase, before notifying deputies that they found the truck again. VSO joined back into the chase and followed until the truck came to a stop at a home off of State Avenue.

Law enforcement watched as 27-year-old Melissa Seay left the driver side of the truck and ran into the house. Law enforcement converged on the residence and began to set up a perimeter to contain Seay.

Deputies spoke to the passenger of the truck, who was identified as the resident of the home she ran into. A few minutes after talking to him, other residents came out and said that Seay was inside. After asking the passenger if they could search the home, he went inside to secure his pit bulls before deputies continued.

While securing his dogs, he told deputies that he talked to Seay and found out she was hiding in a bedroom closet. Once inside, deputies yelled multiple times for Seay to surrender, but they received no response. After no answer, deputies brought a K9 unit into the home and found Seay hiding in the closet.

After securing Seay, law enforcement found several bags of narcotics in the vehicle and in the front yard of the residence, which includes methamphetamine and paraphernalia. A firearm was also located within a closed safe box in the truck.

Seay was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license and operating an unregistered vehicle. Deputies also found out that Seay is on felony probation and added violation of probation charges.

Volusia County Jail records show that she was on probation for grand theft and fraudulent use of an ID. She remains in jail on no bond.
