Winter Break Camp Registration Opens Saturday

DeBary, FL - Looking for something your child can do over winter break? Luckily for Volusia parents, registration for the county’s winter break camp officially opens up this Saturday.

There will be two days that parents can register their children for the camp, those days being December 4 and December 11. The camp, meant for children ages 5 to 12, will be offered from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday from December 17 through January 3.

While the camp will mainly be held at Gemini Springs Park on Dirksen Drive, the first day of camp will be held in DeBary Hall Historic Site’s stable on Sunrise Boulevard.

Recreation Superintendent Matthew Coleman spoke to News Daytona Beach and said there are many fun activities campers can look forward to.

“We’re going to have a lot of playground activities, organized activities, arts and crafts,” said Coleman. “We do have two field trips. We’re going to Freedom Playground the first week of camp and the second week of camp we’re going to go to the Central Florida Zoo.”

Coleman added that there will also be a holiday pajama contest and a field day ice cream party as well during the camp.

Parents can register their children for the camp on December 4 and 11 at the red barn at Gemini Springs Park. The cost for the camp is $100 per child, which includes both field trips. Payment must be submitted upon registration by check or money order. Cash will not be accepted.
