Volusia County is offering funding to nonprofits, schools, churches and other organizations to provide summer camps! Applicants must have proven administrative experience for least one year of successful summer camp or similar programs.

Attendance to one of two virtual workshops is required. The workshop schedule is:

  • Thursday, January 20 10AM-11AM
  • Friday, January 21 2:30PM to 3:30PM

Requirements to receive funding:

  1. Camp must operate from 8PM  to 5AM Monday through Friday for a minimum of six weeks.
  2. Supervised playground activities, sports, crafts and field trips for children ages 5-12 are required
  3. Five-year-olds must have completed kindergarten, and 12-year-olds must be entering no higher than sixth grade.
  4. Camps serving primarily special needs children may accept applicants up to age 17.
  5. Camps are encouraged to provide opportunities for healthy eating and physical activity.

Funding is provided through scholarships from families who are at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, from June 13 to August 5. Providers are paid per child, based on attendance, for a fraction of the rate.

After submission, the Children and Families Advisory Board will choose qualified organizations to be approved by the Volusia County Council.
