Volusia County Under Curfew Until Friday at 7:00 am

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A statement by Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood has confirmed that Volusia County residents will be under curfew for awhile longer. Due to extensive damage and flooding across the county, the curfew has been extended until 7:00 am on Friday.

"We are seeing historic flooding," Chitwood said in the presser. "Even though the curfew ended at 7:00 am, I have people out there in their F-150s driving around taking selfies, zooming through these flooded areas. They're pushing that water into people's homes."

Exempt from the curfew are first responders, emergency workers, and regular employees of local businesses. Those in need of assistance are asked to call 911 in the event of an emergency, or call the Citizens Information Center at 866-345-0345 for non-emergency concerns.
