VCSO Prostitution Sting Nets 7 Arrests On Election Day

Deltona, FL - While everyone else was out voting and watching election results roll in, VCSO investigators were conducting a prostitution sting which resulted in 7 arrests.

With help from Federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations, agents from the Deltona Narcotics Enforcement Team and the multi-agency West Volusia Narcotics Task Froce posed as customers and contacted women who were advertising escort services on the site. They made arrangements to meet at a hotel in Deltona on Tuesday.

5 women went to the hotel and were promptly arrested after they agreed to exchange sex for money. 2 of those women traveled to the hotel together saying they planned to split the $300 as they started taking off their clothes. Those 5 women are 41-year-old Jodie Melendez, 34-year-old Christina Mills, 30-year-old Brianne Mitchell, 23-year-old Katelyn Sawyer, and 26-year-old Yanet Serrano.

2 others were also arrested during the sting. 33-year-old Miguel Ruiz Jr. was arrested for knowingly driving 1 of the women to the hotel for prostitution. 33-year-old Heather Brown was arrested after investigators found out she was on probation for fraud and was supposed to be on house arrest. She had advertised as an escort but left the hotel before a transaction was negotiated.
