Two People Suffer Minor Shark Bites in New Smyrna Beach

New Smyrna Beach, FL - Sharks strike again in the Shark Attack Capital of the World. Volusia County Beach Safety reports that not one but two people suffered minor injuries today (August 3).

Reports say that a 20-year-old female surfer flagged down beach officers around 3:30 p.m. She was bitten by a shark on her left hand and wrist, receiving several lacerations that required treatment. The woman went to Halifax Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As the woman was being taken away in an ambulance, a 21-year-old male surfer came up and showed a shark bite on his right foot. He sustained several minor lacerations. The man was treated on scene with bandages and dressing. He refused transport.
