Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach police raid a beachside motel after obtaining a search warrant and arrest two suspects who are now facing felony drug trafficking charges.

The arrests of 36-year-old Anthony Mascaro and 37-year-old Jennifer Tessier came after members of the Daytona Beach Police Department's (DBPD) Problem Oriented Policing (POP) unit raided the Camellia Motel on Thursday (September 2), something the department already did in December, according to Captain Scott Lee with the DBPD.

“We took seven people into custody the last time, including the property manager,” Lee said. “Now we’ve got two more drug dealers living in one of the motel rooms peddling this poison. If the motel owner refuses to do what’s right, then we’re going to keep doing these raids until this is solved for good.”

This raid, like December's, was orchestrated after officers stepped up in response to more complaints about drug sales taking place on the property. In this raid the POP unit seized 64.8 grams of meth and 4.4 grams of fentanyl in the motel room Mascaro had been renting out for around a month. Officers additionally discovered 60 grams of testosterone propionate, an anabolic steroid used mainly for boosting testosterone levels, in the room's refrigerator.

Also seized by police was a loaded .357 revolver and multiple items used for packaging and selling drugs, including several digital scales.

Mascaro is facing four felonies in total, including trafficking in methamphetamine and fentanyl, keeping a public nuisance structure for drug activity and possession of a schedule III substance. He is also facing an additional misdemeanor charge for drug paraphernalia possession.

Tessier is also facing the same misdemeanor charge, on top of three felony charges of armed trafficking in methamphetamine and fentanyl, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Tessier will also face a violation of probation charge stemming from an unrelated drug case with the Port Orange Police Department. Before that, Tessier was out on bond for an unrelated vehicle burglary case handled by the DeLand Police Department last May.

Both Mascaro and Tessier remain in custody.
