DELAND, Fla. - 17-year-old Tyler Lopez has turned himself in to the Volusia Sheriff's Office after being linked to a nonfatal shooting earlier this month. The incident, which took place on August 4th on South Brooks Avenue, left one other teenager injured.

Lopez turned himself in to the VSO's DeLand district headquarters, and is being charged with attempted first degree murder. He's accused of shooting another teen with the intent to kill them. His girlfriend was taken into custody last week, having been charged with being an accessory to attempted murder.

According to police, 17-year-old Tazaria Carter was present for the shooting and drove Lopez away after it occurred. She's said to have conspired with Lopez to hide details from police as the investigation carried on.

Lopez is being taken to the Volusia Family Resource Center to be processed, before then being brought to the Department of Juvenile Justice. Carter is already in the custody of the DJJ.

The shooting reportedly occurred due to a feud between Lopez and the victim that spilled over on Instagram. The victim did not cooperate much with detectives according to the VSO, but investigative means were employed to get to the bottom of the dispute.
