Daytona Beach, FL - A suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of 35-year-old Kavon Banks. Volusia Sheriff's Office (VSO) detectives identified 29-year-old Toriano Brooks as the murder suspect and uncovered information that he was likely hiding in Palatka since Sunday (June 20) when Banks' body was found.

VSO contacted the Putnam County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) for an assist to take Brooks into custody.
An arrest operation was coordinated by the PCSO Special Operations Bureau consisting of deputies and detectives, along with Palatka Police officers. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement provided support. After a five-hour operation, Brooks was taken into custody early this morning (June 23). He's in the Putnam County Jail and will be extradited to Volusia County.
