Daytona Beach, FL - A Volusia County judge strikes down a motion to terminate the probation of Travis Archer, the man accused of killing the 9-month old labrador pup, Ponce, back in 2017.

The State Attorney’s Office (SAO) argued it was because of Archer’s actions 4 years ago that the state enacted Ponce’s Law, which allows for stiffer penalties for people who commit crimes against animals. In an email, the state commented on the incident and said Ponce’s death stunned the local community and became one of the most important animal abuse cases in Florida

State Attorney R.J. Larizza commented that "the State Attorney’s Office is committed to enforcing Animal Cruelty Laws and holding the perpetrators accountable."
