Daytona Beach, FL - Police successfully tie a serial rapist to three total cases around the Daytona Beach area.
Last week, Daytona Beach police announced the arrest of 44-year-old Markeith Martin in connection to an August 2018 rape case.
During that announcement, Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri mentioned that Martin could be linked to other cases in Daytona Beach, and at least one other in Holly Hill.
Then, just today (May 2nd), police announced that Martin has been charged with two other cases, making the grand total three in Daytona Beach.
The two additional cases took place in July of 2017 and 2018, according to Daytona Beach police.
In 2017, a female told police she was choked and raped by Martin in a room at the Royal Inn in Daytona Beach.
In the 2018 case, police say Martin threatened a victim with a pocket knife before dragging her into a wooded area. That's where he punhced her in the head and choked her, causing her to lose consciousness.
That report also says that the defendant was sexually battered in the woods and again at the Royal Inn.
Both of those cases were connected to Martin following additional DNA evidence that was sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
As for the Holly Hill cases, police say they're currently waiting on word from the State Attorney's Office to find out what they plan on doing with those incidents.
