Second Candidate Enters Race For Volusia County At-Large Seat

DeLand, FL - There's a second candidate now for the Volusia County At-Large Council seat and he's not a new-comer to the Volusia County political scene. Former Port Orange city manager Jake Johansson entered the race last week, on Dec. 21. His opponent will be Heather Post, who announced she will run for the at-large position at Thanksgiving. Ben Johnson, who currently holds that seat, announced in November that he would not run for re-election.

Johansson comes back to politics one year after tendering his resignation to the city of Port Orange.

Port Orange City Manager Tenders Resignation

When Johansson left Port Orange, District Two Council Member Chase Tramont said that "the Council has to deal with the consequences of losing, in my opinion, probably the best city manager in the state of Florida." The pair could conceivably work together again as Tramont is one of three candidates for Billie Wheeler's District 2 seat.
