Reindeer Dash On Saturday For Bikers & Families

Ormond Beach, FL - This Saturday, December 4, a fundraiser for seed money to create what organizer Constance Jones, also known as Mama C, calls "SpecialKindOfPerfectChildren Playground" is taking place.

The Iron horse Saloon in Ormond Beach has been the home of the "Reindeer Dash" since last year, though it's been taking place since 2016.  Jones says it started with bikers wanting to raise money for children. If you're familiar with bikers, you know what a poker run is. She says the bikers will travel through Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach, Port Orange, and back to the Iron Horse. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m with kickstands up at 11 a.m. Admission is $10 and a toy.

Jones said that the event is family-friendly, with games for the children and Santa Claus to hear their wishes.

The fund-raising goal is for ADA-compliant playgrounds but Jones said when the families and children that her organization, Children R Our Future of Volusia County, Inc. sponsors are in need, she has them covered. "If I do not have what these children need for Christmas, I use that money for Christmas gifts.   Some of the money, I send  parents out of the funding, gift cards, food cards, and gas money."
