Port Orange, FL - A Port Orange Police officer and a pregnant woman were both hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries on Tuesday after the officer's patrol car was involved in an accident with another vehicle in Port Orange. Police responded to the corner of Madeline Ave. and Nova Rd. at around 1:15 AM on Tuesday. Officer James Fischetti reported that he was involved in an accident and was requesting assistance after he was trapped in his Ford Taurus, police reports say. Fischetti had been attempting to stop a vehicle at the intersection, and another car collided with his patrol car at the intersection, according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). As officials responded, Fischetti was transported by EVAC to Halifax Health in Daytona, and he has since been treated and released. The second vehicle involved in the crash was a Chevy Cruz with two women inside. Kayla Buzzetta-Cast was the driver, and Sarah Moller was the passenger, according to police reports. FHP says Moller is pregnant. Both Buzzetta-Cast and Moller declined medical assistance at first. Moller later told officials that she felt faint, and she was also transported by EVAC to Halifax Health in Daytona with minor injuries. The crash is now under investigation by FHP. Both vehicles had to be towed away from the scene. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2017.
