Police: Investigators Say Fire Could Be Domestic Violence Related

One person sustained non-life threatening injuries

Port Orange, FL - Police say an early morning fire that injured one person seems suspicious in nature, prompting an investigation into the incident.

Units with the Port Orange police and fire departments responded to the blaze off of Landis Avenue around 3:30 Thursday morning (September 3rd). There, first responders found the home "fully involved" with one person that had sustained injuries.

That person, who remains unidentified, was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach with non-life threatening injuries.

According to their report, investigators determined the fire to be suspicious in nature. That's when the State Fire Marshal was called in to assist with the investigation.

So far, investigators believe the incident to be a "domestic violence related arson." The investigation remains active and ongoing.
