Port Orange, FL -  The District 1 seat on the Port Orange City Council is available as of December 18. Councilmember Dr. Marilyn Ford has tendered her resignation effective December 18, 2020. The stated reason is that she is relocating.

Ford was elected to the seat during a special election on June 11, 2019.  She was elected to finish the nearly four-year term left by her husband, Bob Ford, following his death from cancer in December 2018.

Per Dr. Ford’s resignation letter to City Council, “Serving the residents of Port Orange and beside each of you has been one of my greatest honors. I am confident that you each will continue to lead with distinction and that a talented citizen will be found to fulfill my Council term.”

The City Council will discuss filling the vacancy on the City Council with an Interim City Council Member. The next regular meeting is Tuesday, December 15, 2020.
