Palm Coast Mother Facing Drug, Child Neglect Charges

Palm Coast, FL - A Palm Coast woman faces multiple drug and child neglect charges.  The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Special Investigations Unit (SIU), with the assistance of the FCSO SWAT team, conducted a search warrant at 32-year-old Lisa Ann Velazquez home at 6:30 a.m. yesterday (June 17).

Investigators say that Velazquez was sleeping in the master bedroom. Her five-year-old son was with her. In searching the bedroom and the adjoining bathroom, they found a wide assortment of drugs, including more than ten grams of Fentanyl, estimated to be enough to cause 5,000 adults to overdose.  They also found trafficking amounts of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Oxycodone, and Alprazolam. About $8,000 in suspected drug sale proceeds was seized for forfeiture. The drugs were all in the same room as Velazquez's son.

Citizen complaints about the home located at 35 Leidel Drive started the investigation. SIU confirmed that drugs were being sold at the home through a series of covert operations, leading to the search warrant. Two other small children live in the home with Velazquez but they were at a family member's home when the search warrant was served.

“We are always encouraging our residents to report suspicious activity to us through our See Something, Say Something campaign and this shows that it is working,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Our detectives take all tips seriously and in this case they were able to take trafficking amounts of drugs off of our streets and away from the small children in the house that could have very easily ingested these drugs and fallen ill or been killed.”

Velazquez is at the Flagler County Jail, charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell, Possession of Oxycodone with Intent to Sell, Possession of Alprazolam with Intent to Sell, Possession of New or Legend Drug without a Prescription, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Child Neglect. Her bond is set at $71,500.
