Pair Convicted On Fraud Charges Are Sentenced

Daytona Beach, FL - Two people arrested on several fraud charges in 2016, now know their sentences.  Circuit Judge Raul Zambrano sentenced 63-year-old Timothy Lee Akins to 180 days in the Volusia County Jail and 15 years of probation.  His partner in the crimes, 64-year-old Deborah Entrekin is also sentenced to 15 years probation.  In addition, both are ordered to pay a combined total of $100,000 in restitution.

They were both connected to several fraud cases reported in Port Orange in 2015.  An investigation into their company, Kitchen, Bath and Beyond, LLC, revealed that they were taking large deposits for remodeling jobs and then not doing the work.

Police say 16 victims were identified with many of them over the age of 65.  The couple collected more than $200,000 in deposits from victims. The pair also stiffed sub-contractors and vendors for materials totaling at least $68,000.

R.J. Larizza said the following about the sentence: “White-collar crime—especially construction fraud—has a serious and significant impact upon Victims. Several of our victims are elderly, and the financial hardship inflicted upon them by the predatory practices of the defendants calls for action. The State Attorney’s Office has dedicated substantial resources to ensure that scammers, schemers, and fraudsters are held accountable for the crimes they commit."
