OBPD: Woman Shot Husband Before Shooting At Police

Police call the incident "isolated" and not a threat to the public

Ormond Beach, FL - Ormond Beach police release the names of two people involved in a Thursday afternoon shooting.

The Ormond Beach Police Department reports that 56-year-old David Alan Owsianiak is the victim of a shooting carried out by his wife, 55-year-old Deanne Marie Owsianiak.

According to police, the incident originally occurred just after 3:30 yesterday afternoon (March 26th) in the 800 block of North Beach Street,  north of Granada Boulevard.

The report says that officers were called to the scene where a female had shot a male, with witness accounts saying she was still armed.

When officers arrived, they gave commands to Deanne to drop her firearm. Instead, she turned around and fired in their direction. Five officers on the scene opened fire and shot Deanne, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

David Owsianiak was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Witness accounts say that the two were in the water fighting over a gun before the fatal shooting took place.

No officers were injured during the incident, according to Ormond Beach police.. The five officers who fired their weapons were also placed on administrative leave, which is standard practice while FDLE investigates an officer-involved shooting incident.

Police also state that the incident is isolated and there is no present threat to the Ormond community.
