Ormond Beach, FL - The latest report from police says that a father caused the injuries that killed a 5-month-old infant.

Yesterday (June 11th), the Ormond Beach Police Department arrested 23-year-old Calib Scott after his infant son passed away at the hospital.

After being arrested, Scott was charged with child neglect, aggravated child abuse and first-degree murder by aggravated child abuse.

The report from Ormond Beach police says that Scott "caused the death of the victim" through the use of "severe physical force."

According to the report, after injuring his son, Scott picked him up and noticed he was having trouble breathing. That's when he tried resuscitative procedures but could not help him.

That's when Scott called 911 for help.

The son was taken to the hospital where he was eventually pronounced dead.

The report notes that at the hospital the victim showed signs of bruises in various stages of healing as well as open sores and lacerations on his face.

He also appeared to have what seemed to be a fresh circular burn on the inside of his right ear. A suspected cigarette burn according to OBPD.

Ormond Beach police say that Scott told officers that his injuries happened around two weeks prior and were sufficient to warrant medical attention, but neither him or the victim's mother sought treatment.

Three juvenile dogs and two adult dogs were also removed from the home. The presence of dog urine and feces was noted throughout the home, along with poor hygienic conditions "not suitable for a human being," according to police.

Scott was scheduled to make his first appearance in front of a judge today around 1:30 p.m.
