Oak Hill, FL - A man whose violation of probation arrest led investigators to discovery child pornography on his phone is now in the custody of Volusia County law enforcement following an extradition from New Jersey.

Investigators with the Volusia Sheriff's Office (VSO) say 40-year-old Joseph Maino Jr. was arrested on August 17th for violating his probation. A few days after his arrest, Maino's landlord discovered photos and videos of child pornography on his phone. After finding them, they reported the discovery to Maino’s probation officer and the Sheriff's Office. Detectives took the phone as evidence and later confirmed the contents were child pornography.

It didn't take long for investigators to secure an arrest warrant for Maino, but he had already left the state. Investigators tracked him to New Jersey and worked with the U.S. Marshals Service, alongside local law enforcement, to bring him back into custody.

Maino has since been arrested and extradited back to Volusia County, where he remains in custody. Maino was given no bond on his violation of probation charges for grand theft, dealing in stolen property and providing false owner information to a pawn shop. He was also charged 16 times with child pornography possession, which is $250,000 per charge, leaving him with a $4 million bond.
