Memorial Day Commemorations In Volusia & Flagler Counties

Daytona Beach, FL - This year, 2021, area residents will be able to attend Memorial Day ceremonies and remembrances in person. They range from a patriotic-themed laser light show to a speech from a decorated Vietnam War Special Forces Veteran, to the laying of a wreath at the World Famous Boot Hill Saloon.

In Volusia County:

Daytona Beach -  The Marine Corp League Daytona will be putting on a Memorial Day Ceremony beginning at 2:30 p.m. including a Wreath Laying by Sheriff Mike Chitwood and Daytona Police Chief Jakari Young, a Moment of Silence, and more at the World Famous Boot Hill Saloon.

DeLand - The city of DeLand is hosting a virtual Memorial Day ceremony on May 31 that will stream live at 10 a.m. on the city's Facebook page and YouTube channel. The 40-minute presentation will include two interviews with Gold Star Mothers and a 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard.

Deltona - The Veterans Community Education Partnership for West Volusia County (VCEP) will hold a Memorial Day ceremony near the flagpole at Deltona Veterans Memorial Park beginning at 1 p.m.  West Volusia veterans and civic organizations will lay wreaths during the ceremony.

Edgewater - The EDGEfest Laser Light show is a new event this year, taking place on Saturday, May 29 beginning at 6 p.m. at Hawks Park. A 20-minute patriotic-themed show will include music, special effects presented by Full Color Lasers.

New Smyrna Beach - VFW Post 4250 is holding its traditional schedule of formal Memorial Day services in three locations around town. They'll begin at 10 a.m. at Glencoe-Geiger Cemetary on Sugar Mill Drive with a firing party, the playing of "Taps" and a flag ceremony. At 11 a.m., the ceremonies move to the Brannon Center with an invocation, color guard, and a wreath-laying ceremony. At noon, the ceremonies move to the VFW post, where there will be a firing party and prayer luncheon.

Ormond Beach  - There will be a Memorial Day remembrance service held at Rockefeller Gardens beginning at 9 a.m.

Port Orange - A Memorial Day ceremony will take place at Veterans Park in City Center beginning at 10 a.m. VFW Post 3282 will host the ceremony, which will feature a display of colors, speeches, and a 21-gun salute. The ceremony will be streamed live on Facebook and posted to the city's YouTube channel and website.

In Flagler County:

Bunnell: A Memorial Day event is sponsored by the Flagler County Commission and the Flagler County Veterans Advisory Council on May 31. The Special Guest Speaker is Sergeant First Class Melvin Morris, US Army (retired), Vietnam War Special Forces Veteran, and Medal of Honor recipient. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Veterans and support groups to participate include American Legion Post 115, DAV Chapter 86, Marine Corp League 876, Military  Officers Association of America, Flagler County Veterans Service Office, VFW Post 8696, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Knights of Columbus 2264 Color Corps.

Palm Coast - The city of Palm Coast's Memorial Day ceremony begins at 8 a.m. at Heroes Memorial Park
