2024 Election

Marjorie Taylor Greene Holds Event in Ormond Beach

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Marjorie Taylor Greene, the highly controversial congresswoman from Georgia's 14th district, held an event in Ormond Beach on Sunday. Greene spoke to supporters and gave away books at the Iron Horse Saloon, as first reported by the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

Though the Republican Greene will face a Democratic challenger for her own district in 2024, she's been spending much of her political energy campaigning for Donald Trump in the presidential primary. Greene is supporting Trump over the other Republican candidates, and will likely be afforded the opportunity to take her own re-election for granted in a deep-red district.

Greene spoke on Sunday about topics such as the Capitol riots on January 6th, 2021, one day after the two-year anniversary of the event. The congresswoman maintains that those who've been arrested for their roles in the insurrection are 'political prisoners', and she has repeated the debunked claim that Trump was the rightful winner of the 2020 presidential election.

Where Greene's bold political claims and stances have made her a lightning rod for controversy on the national stage, those present at the Sunday event have said that she received a mostly positive reception. Volusia County has leaned Republican in each of the last three presidential elections, after being a Democratic stronghold for the last five before that.
