Port Orange, FL - A man was arrested for grand theft after he was caught on security camera looting a Sunglass World store in Port Orange in the midst of Hurricane Irma. Police responded to the burglary in progress at The Port Orange Pavilion on Williamson Blvd. shortly after midnight on Monday. The owner says he spotted 34-year-old Harold Hall, with a hammer, looting the store on the store's video security camera, according to the Port Orange Police Department. Despite dealing with the effects of Hurricane Irma, police responded to the crime in progress. A K9 officer from Port Orange Police Department located Hall inside the business, and Hall refused to comply with demands to exit the store. Hall attempted to flee out the back of the store, but after a short foot chase, officers caught up to him. Hall was arrested, and no injuries were sustained by Hall or police. Hall is charged with grand theft over $100,000, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest without violence, and criminal mischief with enhanced penalties during a state of emergency.
